The 2015 Honeywell Scholarship & Summer Camp recently hosted a group of teachers and students from schools rebuilt by Honeywell following the Sichuan Earthquake for a four-day program in Shanghai to promote new teaching and learning techniques. The group of 12 teachers and students visited Honeywell’s facilities and the Honeywell Technology Experience Center in Shanghai, as well as local schools and scenic spots.

Volunteers from Honeywell’s Shanghai office also hosted the students at their homes over the weekend.  This provided them the opportunity to experience the city and interact with other children in Shanghai.

Chen Sumei, one of the volunteers said, “Deyang is a totally different place compared with Shanghai.  This program helped the Sichuan kids experience life in the big city. It’s a great memory for them.”

This year marks the 7th anniversary of the devastating earthquake in western China’s Sichuan province that took place on May 12, 2008. Honeywell provided immediate financial assistance rebuilding Honeywell United Primary School and Honeywell Baohe Primary School and provided the students and teachers in earthquake-stricken An and Zhongjiang counties a safer and much more enabling learning environment.
