Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote Accepts Hero's Award from Community Hope for Veteran Support

On Thursday, October 15, 2015, Honeywell Chairman and CEO, Dave Cote, accepted the Hero’s Award, given by Community Hope of New Jersey, in recognition of Honeywell’s commitment and support of the military and veterans who have nobly served our country.  Cote was honored at the Sparkle of Hope Annual Dinner alongside Alex Gorsky, Chairman and CEO of Johnson & Johnson. Two Honeywell colleagues were also in attendance and thanked for their military service: Quentin Wagner, a former Air Force Officer, and Dale Sinkler, a former enlisted U.S. Army soldier. Quentin and Dale now work respectively as a Technical Manager at our National Security Campus in Kansas City, Missouri, and as a Senior Research and Development Technician in our Performance Materials and Technologies business in Colonial Heights, Virginia.

Community Hope is a non-profit organization that provides residential recovery programs and psychiatric support to help former servicemen and women in dire need, opening the largest transitional housing program in New Jersey for homeless veterans. Today, Community Hope operates 40 residential facilities and is home to more than 335 individuals in recovery.

During Cote’s acceptance speech, he stated, “Honeywell has proudly supported President Obama’s Joining Forces initiative, which encourages private companies to hire and train military veterans. Since partnering with Joining Forces in 2011, we have hired more than 2,100 veterans in a wide variety of roles, including engineers, production operation supervisors, technicians, and sourcing/logistics professionals. Every year, we hire an average of about 500 veterans. Today, 9.7% of our U.S. workforce are U.S. military veterans, which is higher than the national average for large employers of 7.7%. While many companies pay only the difference in salaries for current employees called to service in the National Guard and Reserve, Honeywell voluntarily provides pay and benefits at 100 percent for up to 18 months until they return home.”

Honeywell partners with Orion International to recruit for a large volume of technical, engineering, operations, sales and project management positions for Honeywell within the U.S. Since the late 1990s, Orion has placed hundreds of military veterans into rewarding careers with Honeywell.
