Following the announcement of the re-anchored Honeywell India Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Honeywell is proud to partner with Safe Kids Foundation India (SKFI) for the transformational Safe Kids at Home program.
The collective effort that families, healthcare, education, law enforcement agencies and society make for the wellbeing and development of a child come to naught should even one debilitating injury or death occur. In the interest of conserving this effort, it is critical that all these agencies work together to ensure a safe environment for children, our future citizens.
Safe Kids at Home does exactly this: it educates children about preventing burns and scalds. Why burns and scalds, you may wonder. Safe Kids at Home is based on a citywide home safety research conducted by IMRB International, which showed that burns and scalds are number two in frequency and number one in severity among all preventable injuries. More than 76,000 children in Pune alone suffered burn and scald injuries in 2014.
The program will deploy cutting-edge, experiential, and fun educational tools targeted at different age groups, reaching 325,000 students and 175,000 parents in 2015-2017. The program does not stop at training children, but child safety becomes a powerful trigger for transforming the safety culture in Pune. It aims to bring together citizens and civic agencies who can lead the way in making Pune a model safe city.

The launch was attended by more than 200 eminent citizens and civic agencies including first responders, law enforcement agencies, administrators, pediatricians, teachers, and media. Both the fire advisor to Maharashtra state government and the Pune Municipal Commissioner applauded and pledged support for the program. The launch received wide media coverage including in The Hindu Business Line, The Times of India, and Indian Express.
