Honeywell Volunteers Make a Big Difference for Local Boys and Girls Club

What do you get when you bring together more than 120 Honeywell employees for a Rebuilding Together project? Hundreds of happy kids at the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Phoenix who now have improved facilities, thanks to volunteers’ time and efforts.

During the two-phased project in December and February, upgrades were made to the club’s exterior by installing a new outdoor sport court, laying fabric and gravel, installing decorative cement planters and providing custom Honeywell benches.  Inside the club, additional improvements were made including the assembly of tables and activity games, installation of decorations and a fresh coat of paint for the facility.

“Honeywell and our employees are dedicated to making a positive impact through community outreach efforts in the local areas where we live and work,” said Steve Kelly, Vice President of Honeywell Aerospace Human Resources and Communications. “Through Honeywell Hometown Solutions, the company’s corporate citizenship initiative, we are able to combine financial support and the aid our hardworking volunteers to repair schools, hospitals, daycare centers and other establishments that are vitally important to our communities. It was very rewarding to focus our recent efforts in support of the Boys & Girls Club, and we are proud to know that improvements made by Honeywell will benefit local children for years to come.”

The goal of the Boys & Girls club is to provide a safe environment for low income children to learn and grow through after-school programs and summer care where they can develop positive relationships with caring, adult professionals.

“Thank you to all the Honeywell volunteers. The kids were amazed, excited and a few were speechless when they arrived at the club following the completion of the project,” said Donna Martin, volunteer coordinator at the Boys & Girls Club.

Honeywell is a national sponsor of Rebuilding Together. Since 2003, more than 17,500 Honeywell volunteers have repaired hundreds of homes and nonprofit centers in Honeywell communities across the United States. Volunteers work together to rehabilitate and revitalize low-income housing, schools, hospitals and other community assets. Rebuilding Together is one of many Honeywell Hometown Solutions’ community outreach efforts that focus on important societal needs that align with Honeywell’s heritage, products and people.
