Honeywell’s Matrikon OPC Unified Architecture (UA)
has been selected by Emerson Process Management
for use in its CSI 6500 ATG Machinery Health™ Protection System. Emerson provides a range of engineering products and services for industrial, commercial and consumer markets.
This latest adoption highlights the growing importance of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industrie 4.0 technology within the manufacturing industry. The ecosystem is evolving into one of open and secure connectivity between devices, creating a demand for machine-to-machine (or M2M) and edge-to-cloud solutions.
The OPC UA toolkit is a key data connectivity standard, enabling users to quickly and easily interconnect industrial software systems for any platform, operating system and size. It is a user-friendly solution that scales well from small, embedded environments to large, PC-based applications, making it a “one-stop-shop” automation solution for companies that want to work across multiple product lines ranging from networked discrete sensors to programmable controllers.
“Device vendors like Emerson are turning to the Matrikon OPC UA SDK to easily and seamlessly embed OPC UA into their products,” said Elgonda La Grange, director of Advanced Solutions software products, Honeywell Process Solutions
. “This versatile toolkit has the industry’s lowest memory requirement but at the same time is highly performant. The benefit of the solution is that our customers’ developers use the same API across all processor sizes and operating systems.”
