Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote Accepts Keep America Beautiful’s 2016 Vision for America Award

On October 18, Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote accepted Keep America Beautiful’s 2016 Vision for America Award in recognition of the company's outstanding corporate commitment to civic, environmental and social stewardship. The award was presented by Keep America Beautiful, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization that envisions a country that is a clean, green and beautiful place to live, to honored corporations since 1986.

“Good business, economic growth, and responsibility go hand in hand. They are not mutually exclusive. That principle is what guides Honeywell as we grow and accelerate financial performance while also being good environmental stewards,” said Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote while accepting the award. “It is through passionate and enduring leadership, a committed workforce and effective partnerships that we can achieve lasting outcomes that will ensure a vision for America that is achievable and sustainable for all of us.”

“Keep America Beautiful and Honeywell share the belief that when individuals, corporations, governments and nonprofits work together, we can fulfill a vision of a country—and a world—in which every community can be environmentally healthy, socially connected and economically sound, said Jennifer M. Jehn, president and CEO, Keep America Beautiful. “Honeywell’s strong sustainability program has best-in-class energy efficiency innovations for homes, buildings, factories and transportation.”

Honeywell’s Vision for America and for the world is to blend its physical products with software to support connected systems that improve the comfort, safety and efficiency of homes, buildings, factories, utilities, vehicles and aircraft. Honeywell’s solutions enhance the quality of life of people around the globe, create new markets and industries and help save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

With nearly 50 percent of its revenue linked to energy efficiency, Honeywell can help the world address its energy challenges. In fact, if Honeywell’s existing technologies were widely adopted today, energy demand in the U.S. could be reduced by 20 percent to 25 percent.

The company is also proud of its energy efficiency and greenhouse gas efficiency within its own businesses. It applies a rigorous set of internal controls – the Honeywell Operating System – to drive sustainable improvements and the elimination of waste in its manufacturing operations. Honeywell is now nearly 40 percent more energy efficient and more than 65 percent more greenhouse gas efficient than it was in 2004. And, in March 2015, Honeywell met with President Obama to set yet another public goal to increase greenhouse gas efficiency by another 10 percent by 2019.

Honeywell’s commitment to environmental stewardship, including its progress  addressing environmental legacies from the Company’s 100-year manufacturing history, was highlighted in a video shown at the Keep America Beautiful event.
