Boeing 717 |
 |
The Automatic Flight System (AFS) supplies automatic flight control and flight crew guidance during the full flight envelope (from takeoff above 100 feet through ground roll-out after landing). The B717 AFS makes basic flight functions automatic so that the flight crew's load is decreased. It contains those systems and components that automatically control the flight path, safe reference speed and trim condition of the aircraft.
The B717 AFS processes the inouts from airframe sensors, navigational sensors, ADIRUs, VIA, engine controls and other sources to provide output signals for the Electronic Instrument System (EIS) guidance displays and control outputs to actuators for control of pitch, roll, yaw and thrust.
