Hand-held Laser Welding Technologies
The continual development of advanced welding, heat treating, thermal sizing and high-technology brazing restoration processes increase our capability to deliver innovative repairs. Our new adaptive and hand-held laser welding technologies and brazing techniques create high-precision repairs that are cost effective, even for those components with complex part geometries and one-piece castings.

As a recognized leader in laser welding repair technology, Honeywell’s value-added expertise is demonstrated through our advanced repairs for the LF507 turbofan regional jet engine. With over 1,000,000 turbine blades repaired and over 20 million flight hours accumulated, our laser welding repairs have increased process yields to 95% for a component that would have been declared non-repairable and scrapped prior to the advent of this new technology.

Honeywell has over 12 patents on our laser technology. Our laser welding processes include –
   3-D adaptive laser powder fusion welding
   Hand-held laser system welding
   Laser welding, cutting and drilling

Honeywell’s hand-held laser technology extends the advantages of laser welding to new repair applications that were previously non-repairable, impractical or inaccessible. This technology is ideal for repairs that involve --

   Low heat input
   Difficult accessibility
   Irregular or random defects

The laser precise beam delivery of the hand-held laser system minimizes cracking, distortion and HAZ problems that are commonly experienced with TIG and other welding systems.

Coating Systems
Honeywell’s surface treatments and specialty coatings prevent corrosion and erosion while improving the high-temperature capability of engine parts and components. Our new treatment technologies and application processes help thermal coatings better adhere to parts longer, delivering increased engine performance.
