At the core of Honeywell Technology Solutions Lab (HTSL) values, is the spirit of giving which has been imbibed from Honeywell, the parent organization. This strong urge coupled with the basic Indian value of "Living together" forms the basis for the Community Services team at HTSL.
HTSL strongly believes that strong companies require strong communities and successful people have the duty and privilege of sharing their good fortune with the people in our communities who need help. While financial contributions from individuals may be substantial, HTSL recognized long ago that the most effective corporate citizenship efforts extend beyond the cheque book.
HTSL’s employees - ‘our volunteers and our strength’
Our employees take time out to volunteer and are the driving force behind our social responsibility and involvement in various activities built around it. Many of our employees at all levels of our organization contribute countless hours to non-profit organizations each year, serving on boards, acting as mentors and rolling up their sleeves to take part in community service activities. Wherever possible, we leverage our leadership and business experience to combat problems that we may encounter while driving these initiatives.

Community Service - 4 main areas
As the Community Services team at HTSL prepares itself to be a vehicle of hope and love, a shoulder of support, to the underprivileged, choices of community service tasks are activities that:
benefit children and the aged
require physical presence and effort
focus on education and
similar long-term values that improve the environment
This basically translates into Education, Medical, and Native Village Adoption schemes.
Education
This involves identifying meritorious but economically deprived children in schools and enabling them to continue their education by giving them scholarships. The focus is on the overall development of the children, achieved by assigning mentors to each and every child that is awarded a scholarship.
Medical
This activity involves providing medical assistance on a sustained basis, in the form of consultation with qualified doctors, supply of medicines and education about basic hygiene at remote village, which have no access to regular medical facilities and conducting special free medical camps like eye care or dental hygiene.
Native Village Adoption
The Native Village Adoption Program involves inculcating a sense of self-help and self- sufficiency among the villagers. When translated, it means undertaking development projects at the native villages of employees thereby improving the quality of living at these places, like the building of bridges, wells, toilet facilities, libraries, etc.
How does it work?
Ever since its inception in the organization as a formal entity, the Community Services Board drives a unique blend of company’s basic values and the employees’ desire to serve.
The board formulates the basic principles that govern the Community Service activities besides formulating well-defined goals at the beginning of every year. The Board also facilitates the actual implementation of various ideas/ suggestions/ feedback emerging from the employees based on the priorities and the goals set.
The Community Services Board carries out the following tasks:
Identifying appropriate activities / beneficiaries / tasks
Planning and scheduling the activity
Getting resources required for the activity
Motivating the employees to participate
Coordinating the activities on a sustained basis
Most importantly, ensuring that the value reaches the recipients
The voluntary efforts of employees are also employed in building alliances with various non-profit organizations which have the know-how but lack manpower and funds.
PARTNERSHIPS
HTSL has been working with various non-government organizations (NGO) and government organizations for the healthcare, education and humanitarian programs at various points of time.
For instance, with the help of in-house expertise in software, software to track missing children (Missing Child Tracker) was developed. The software was provided to the Bangalore Police Commissioner for tracking missing children.
On the medical front, the NGO Ramakrishna Ashram has adopted Shivanahalli village and conducts a medical camp there every Sunday. HTSL employees participate actively in those camps as volunteers, serving the poor. On the educational front, we have worked with Agastya International Foundation to leverage the skills of teachers from various schools (in and around Bangalore) through the teachers’ training program and a science exhibition for the school children.
