2001 Physics Nobel Laureate Dr. Eric A. Cornell delivers lecture on “The How and Why Of The World's Lowest Temperatures”
Dr. Eric A Cornell, the 2001 Nobel Laureate in Physics, delivered the first lecture of the 2010 Honeywell-Nobel Laureate Lecture Series, at the M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), Bangalore, India, which is an autonomous institute affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). The lecture on “The How and Why Of The World's Lowest Temperatures” on February 16, 2010 and a colloquium entitled “Which Does Nature Like Better – Lazy or Sloppy?” on February 17, 2010 were the highpoints of the two day program. The laureate also inaugurated a Traveling Technology Exhibition of Honeywell product that attracted hoards of students. This is the 6th Indian event of the Honeywell-Nobel series that started in 2007 in Belgaum, Karnataka. The Honeywell-Nobel Laureate Lecture Series is the centerpiece of a global education initiative designed to connect students around the world with Nobel Prize winners in Chemistry and Physics to inspire and motivate the development of future scientists. Honeywell Technology Solutions and VTU have been collaborating together on several initiatives including an innovative scholarship program, annual technology meetings and guest lectures by Honeywell Technology specialists. There are currently more than 500 VTU alumni working at Honeywell.
