24 Hours Le Mans


24 Hours Le Mans 2006 saw the dawn of a new era when the Audi R10 TDI became the first turbodiesel sportscar to win the world’s most famous endurance race boosted by Honeywell turbo technology.

In 2007, Audi and Peugeot claimed the two podium places and proved again the supremacy of diesel race cars.

Audi’s stunning success came on the back of a string of victories in the 21st century with its 3.6 liter twin Honeywell boosted V8…and now the new R10 era has begun.

Turbocharged cars have won the 24 Hours of Le Mans on no fewer than 23 occasions since 1976. Porsche being the major player from 1976 through 1987. Turbocharged engines have proven unbeatable in endurance racing not only in terms of performance but also from a reliability and fuel efficiency standpoint.
