The Boost that Fuels the European Car of the Year

It achieved an industry milestone recently as the 2017 European Car of the Year at the Geneva International Motor Show &endash; the first SUV to ever win.
Awarded since 1964, this prestigious honor is voted upon by 58 automotive journalists from 22 countries, who consider innovation, safety, design and value for the money.
Honeywell's leading turbo technology supports both the 1.2L gasoline engine as well as a 1.6L diesel variant, which features our industry-leading variable internal geometry technology, known as a VNT turbo.
VNT turbos contribute to higher torque levels, particularly at low engine speed, and help deliver more power across a wider range, better acceleration through improved transient response and cleaner combustion. Lower emissions are made possible by after treatment systems facilitated by the turbo.
Being the first to introduce variable geometry turbos to mass production vehicles nearly 30 years ago as a way to further optimize aerodynamics, turbo technology has been instrumental in the development of diesel engines during the past three decades with more than 50 million of these units in production globally.
Honeywell's support of the 1.2L gasoline engine currently uses its proven gasoline wastegate technology with an integrated manifold and turbine housing. The plan is to introduce the third generation gas turbo technology before the end of the year to help Peugeot meet the next round of EU emissions standards.
The six other finalists for the award were the Alfa Romeo Giulia, which placed second in the voting, as well as the Citroen C3, Mercedes E-Class, Nissan Micra, Toyota C-HR hybrid, and Volvo S90/V90.
