Pikes Peak veteran and HoneywellGarrett-sponsored driver, Rhys Millen, came infirst place in the time attack class at the 2017 Pikes Peak InternationalHill Climb, with an overall time of 9:47.427 in his race-prepped HyundaiGenesis Coupe. The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International HillClimb (PPIHC), also known as The Race to the Clouds, is an annual invitationalautomobile and motorcycle hill climb to the summit of Pikes Peak &endash; America'sMountain in Colorado, USA.
Founded in 1916 by Spencer Penrose, TheBroadmoor PPIHC takes place on a 12.42-mile public toll-road boasting 156turns, while competitors climb 4,720 ft. from the Start Line at Mile 7 markeron the Pikes Peak Highway to the 14,115 ft. finish at the mountain'ssummit.
As the drivers climb toward the summit, the thin air robsinternal combustion engines of up to 30% of the power they are capable of atthe start of the race, giving turbocharged vehicles a distinct advantage.
