Honeywell's B757 Test Bed Aircraft Makes a Stop at the Paris Air Show
June 19, 2015
Honeywell kick started its presence at the Paris Air Show with a rare visit to LeBourget by its B757 test bed aircraft. The aircraft made a one day stop at the event to demonstrate how the company develops and tests the latest avionics, engine and Wi-Fi technologies.
Before the stopover in Paris, the B757 test bed aircraft was in the United Kingdom testing Honeywell’s new JetWave™ satellite hardware for GX. Honeywell and Inmarsat successfully completed the first phase of hardware and satellite network flight tests for GX Aviation broadband services that will enable airplanes to connect to Inmarsat’s Global Xpress satellite constellation for GX Aviation global Ka-band in-flight Wi-Fi services.
Also at this year’s event, Honeywell announced that Virgin Atlantic Airways will be the first airline to install its new flight management service to increase efficiency and improve fuel conservation. Honeywell’s new Flight Management System (FMS) Datalink Service will provide pilots with access to updated and customized wind and temperature information to better optimize the vertical profile of a flight and improve fuel predictions. Virgin Atlantic will implement the system on its unique, long-haul Airbus A330 and A340 fleet, where time and fuel savings can be maximized.
With previous attendance records topping 300,000 people, 3,200 journalists, more than 2,000 exhibitors and numerous daily aircraft flying displays – the International Paris Air Show (PAS) was, once again, the place to be this June! For more than 50 years, this week-long event drew industry leaders from around the globe to showcase the latest and greatest technology innovations.
“We were eager to meet with customers one-on-one and provide detailed information on our investment in creating technologies that are modernizing passengers’ flight experience, getting them to their destination more safely, efficiently and more comfortably,” said Carl Esposito, Honeywell Aerospace Vice President of Marketing & Product Management.”
