Honeywell Wins International Recognition for Humanitarian Relief in the Philippines

Honeywell Hometown Solutions (HHS), the company’s corporate citizenship initiative, received the International Business Association’s Stevie® Gold Award for “Best Communications Campaign of the Year-Community Relations” for its humanitarian relief efforts in the Philippines. The International Business Association bestows Stevie awards to organizations and individuals that make significant achievements and contributions worldwide.

Stevie_In-storyHHS received the award for its ability to quickly mobilize and rebuild the Honeywell Ngolos Elementary School in Guiuan less than a year after Typhoon Haiyan devastated the Philippines in late 2013. Built by donations from more than 1,800 Honeywell employees who donated to the Honeywell Humanitarian Relief Fund (HHRF), the new school serves more than 300 students grades 1-6, and features eight classrooms, two bathrooms, an administrative office, and a playground with a basketball court. The school also serves as an evacuation center in the event of an emergency.

This award complements two other Stevie honors given to Honeywell this year. In June, Dave Cote received the Stevie American Business Award “Manager of the Year” award, and HHS received the Stevie American Business “Community Relations Campaign of the Year” Gold Award for KidSmartz, the first nationwide classroom-based campaign aimed at educating parents, children and teachers to help prevent child abductions.
