Ten Students Receive Horatio Alger Association's Honeywell Scholarship

Horatio-Alger_3by2Proving that perseverance and determination can overcome personal challenges, 10 college students received the second-annual Horatio Alger Association's Honeywell Scholarship awards in the amount of $10,000 each. The scholarship provides financial assistance to students who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity to pursue a degree in a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

“We've seen first-hand the impact that scholarships and internship opportunities have on these students,” said Dave Cote, Honeywell Chairman and CEO. “Their work ethic and determination to succeed is unmatched, and I look forward to witnessing all that they will accomplish.”

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and exhibit good character and academic promise despite facing significant challenges. Funding, through Honeywell Hometown Solutions, the company's corporate citizenship initiative, covers expenses such as tuition and on-campus room and board, which recipients can begin to use during their sophomore year.
