Group-Photo_Top-12-Winners._in-storyHoneywell China was honored with the Best Innovation Practice Award at the "Innovation and Development: Multinational Companies in Shanghai" Innovation Forum and Awards Ceremony on October 22, 2015. The award is co-organized by Shanghai Daily and under the guidance of the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality and the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, and aims to encourage Shanghai-based multinationals who play exemplary roles in promoting local innovation and transformation, deepening reform and opening-up.

Honeywell China submitted a case titled "Taking A Deep Breath", which highlights the company’s East for East innovation efforts and achievements that help address China’s environmental challenges, especially around air and water pollution.

This award is a significant recognition by the local government, media, academia and communities involved in a three-month robust process of review, voting and judging. The first round (Top 40) was based on online voting – a total of 5,720,945 votes by general public. The second/final round (Top 12) was conducted by a judge panel of government, academic and media representatives.

Wesley-Luo-at-awarding-ceremony_in-storyDr. Wesley Luo, VP and GM of Honeywell Technology Solutions China, attended the awarding ceremony and received the honor on behalf of Honeywell. “This is really a big honor. At Honeywell, we always believe that innovation is not just about developing technology for the sake of technology. To be meaningful, innovation must benefit people and bring about business growth,” said Wesley.

Through its East-for-East strategy, Honeywell identifies China-specific needs around the big problems that people face every day -- safety and security, environment and energy efficiency, productivity, and air and water quality. Honeywell addresses these needs with locally-developed innovations and from January to September 2015, Honeywell’s Shanghai-based R&D center generated more than 700 inventions and 120 patents. Currently, one-third of the revenues in China come from such East for East innovations and products. Since 2007, Honeywell’s R&D team has generated more than 600 patents and patent applications in China.
