KidSmartz Gains National Media Exposure Thanks to Lifetime TV

The KidSmartz™ program developed by Honeywell Hometown Solutions (HHS), the company’s corporate citizenship initiative, and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is being featured on Lifetime TV’s “The Balancing Act” morning news program on October 12, with a rebroadcast airing October 19. The segment is part of the “Be the Change” series that features how corporate America is empowering people to build better lives.
Kerry Kennedy, Director of HHS, and Callahan Walsh, of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, joined host Julie Moran to talk about the importance of the KidSmartz program and the impact it has on preventing childhood abductions.
Kennedy and Walsh shared information about the free personal safety program and talked about the “Four Rules of Safety” at the heart of KidSmartz:

- Take a Friend
- Tell People “No”
- Tell a Trusted Adult
Introduced in 2004, KidSmartz (previously known as Got2BeSafe!) was created to include simple messaging that is easy for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade to understand and remember. It not only includes the four safety rules, but also animated videos and a catchy and memorable Safety Dance.
“We couldn’t do it without great partners like Honeywell and their employees that really champion our cause and adopt our mission as their own,” said Walsh. “This partnership has allowed us to create a great safety resource to deliver to families and educators across the country to keep kids safe.”
The “Be the Change” segment will air again on Monday, October 19 at 7:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on Lifetime. Watch the segment on “The Balancing Act” website.
