Honeywell Chairman and CEO, Dave Cote, Discusses U.S.-China Relationship With Business and Government Leaders
May 03, 2016
Cote participated in the dialog of “Competing in China through Innovation” during an interview with Myron Brilliant, Executive Vice President and Head of International Affairs for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Cote discussed the importance of American business in China and how Honeywell’s mindset of “Becoming the Chinese Competitor” guides the Company in leveraging its global innovation capabilities to beat Chinese companies in the China market. Honeywell’s global operations provides the flexibility to adapt to changes in the local market and keep up with the evolution of the Chinese economy.
During the conference, Brilliant stated he believes the U.S.-China relationship is “too big to fail” and there is too much at stake for the two countries to avoid solving problems. It is important for both sides to deepen economic ties prior to political transitions in both countries. “Our countries, our governments, our stakeholders can manage through areas of disagreement, but we have to redouble our efforts going forward to resolve these issues at a time when the world is looking for China and the U.S. to collaborate wherever possible on global, regional and bilateral issues.”
