China Refiner Licenses Honeywell-ExxonMobil Technologies for Fuel and Lubes Production
August 12, 2016
Demand for cleaner jet fuel and car diesel is growing at a fast pace in China. The number of automobiles in China reached nearly 300 million in 2015 and is forecast to reach 600 million by 2025.
To meet this need, Hainan Handi will use Honeywell's Unicracking' technology and ExxonMobil's MSDW' catalytic lubes de-waxing technology to produce high quality motor oil, ultra-low sulfur diesel and jet fuel. Hainan Handi manufactures and distributes petrochemical products, including a wide range of base oils.
Honeywell's Unicracking process upgrades heavy fractions of crude oil to produce ultra-clean distillate products—such as diesel and jet fuel—as well as feedstock to make lube oils. Honeywell has developed and licensed hydroprocessing solutions for more than 50 years, with more than 200 units licensed in more than 40 countries.
In 2011, Honeywell and ExxonMobil announced a joint marketing alliance that would provide a comprehensive suite of technologies for refiners seeking to maximize production levels of lube base oils and diesel fuel. The solution combines hydroprocessing and engineering capabilities, as well as refining catalysts for fuels and lubricants.
