Honeywell technology makes e-commerce pickup easy

Honeywell technology helps UK shoppers pick up online purchases within 12 hours of placing orders 

With Cyber Monday sales in the U.K. expected to be approximately £1.1 billion in 2016, online shoppers increasingly want more convenient options for collecting their purchases. Often, a package can be delivered to a retail store faster than to a person’s home, avoiding the risk of theft or having to wait at home for delivery.

Shoppers in the U.K. now have that option with Pass My Parcel, an e-commerce service launched by newspaper and magazine wholesaler Smiths News. Using Pass My Parcel consumers can collect their online purchases from the retailer from within 12 hours of placing their orders seven days a week.

The service is using Honeywell handheld computers to help customers at more than 3,000 parcel shop locations across the country. With the Honeywell mobile devices, store associates can quickly locate and retrieve shoppers’ purchases and provide convenient customer service. Once they place their orders, e-commerce shoppers receive a confirmation code on their personal smartphones, which are then scanned at the store to collect their items.

“With easy-to-use handheld devices, store staff can provide a high level of customer service, and retailers can reduce time and costs associated with training,” said Lisa London, president of Honeywell’s Productivity Products business.

The Pass My Parcel service is available to more than 90 percent of U.K. residents and is continuing to expand throughout the country. Pass My Parcel supports deliveries from Amazon and returns for online fashion retailer ASOS.
