Honeywell's Spectra® Fiber Strengthens High-Performance Fishing Line from Innovative Textiles

Unique properties make new superlines' ideal for deep sea and fresh water environments.MORRIS TOWNSHIP, N.J., Sept. 6, 2006: Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today its Spectra ® fiber will help strengthen high-performance fishing line from Innovative Textiles, a worldwide leader in the manufacture of ultra-high-strength and small-diameter braided lines.Using its proprietary braiding technology, Innovative Textiles incorporates Spectra fiber into its Power Pro ® premium fishing line. Spectra fiber makes the fishing line easier to use, cast more smoothly, and last longer. The long-term supply contract is expected to be worth $45 million."Spectra fiber is clearly one of the best materials for fishing lines, and results in a highly durable and abrasion-resistant product," said Konrad Krauland, president of Innovative Textiles. The material is made of polyethylene and has one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any synthetic fiber, including nylon, polyester and aramid. Its extra-thin diameter makes it up to four to five times smaller than equivalent strength nylon monofilament.
