MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 23, 2010 Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today introduced Prestige® IAQ, a complete multi-stage system and IAQ control that installs with two wires. The two-piece design includes the thermostat and an equipment interface module (EIM) and communicates with each other using proven Honeywell RedLINK™ wireless technology."Prestige IAQ makes it effortless to install upgraded systems and control both temperature and IAQ accessories all from a single device," said John Tyhacz, vice president and general manager for Honeywell's Home Comfort and Energy Systems business. "Two-wire installation not only saves contractors time and labor hours, it also helps reduce their risk when bidding a job. When a job calls for multi-stage equipment - or a heat pump - additional wires won't have to be pulled."Connecting with customers after initial installation helps drive additional service revenue for contractors. Prestige IAQ can help contractors achieve this by reminding homeowners when it's time to replace their furnace filter, humidifier pad or ultraviolet (UV) lam. It can remind them to schedule a spring or fall systems check. Up to 10 reminders can be set from either pre-set options or ones created by the contractor. Automated messages direct homeowners to a screen with their contractor's full color company logo, phone number and Web site.Honeywell introduced the Prestige in late 2008. The industry's first full-color, high-definition, wireless-enabled thermostat, Prestige's patented, interview-based interface walks a homeowner through the set-up process by asking a series of questions such as "what time does the first person wake-up in the morning?" or "what time do you go to sleep at night?" The answers help the thermostat program itself no owner's manual needed.Prestige IAQWhen used as directed, Honeywell estimates that homeowners can cut annual heating and cooling costs by up to 33 percent or $200 each year depending on geographic location.Honeywell is a global leader in energy efficiency, with control technology in more than 150 million homes, 10 million buildings and thousands of industrial plants around the world. In addition to a full-line of home comfort products available through HVAC professionals and retail outlets, Honeywell also works directly with utilities demand response programs, which help limit energy consumption when the demand for electricity is at its highest.
