Pressure-Temperature Chart App Also Launched
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, N.J., Feb 28, 2012 Honeywell
today announced the availability of two new mobile applications for HVAC contractors and refrigeration system engineers, designed to provide quick and accurate data for decision-making on the go. The new apps are downloadable to the iPad from iTunes. The iPhone version will be announced when available."Recent activity by the EPA to reduce manufacturers' allocations of R-22 has many customers looking for alternatives to retrofit their systems," said Ron Vogl, technical marketing manager, Honeywell Fluorine Products. "Our R-22 Retrofit comparison app lets them evaluate up to three refrigerants at a time, to help them make the right decision for their operation."Customers can conduct side-by-side comparisons on properties such as capacity, efficiency, and global warming potential (GWP). The built-in refrigerant calculator determines how much new refrigerant is needed to run the system, and the distributor locator helps users find a Honeywell Genetron wholesaler.HVAC mechanics and field technicians who have been carrying paper pressure-temperature (P/T) charts in their pockets will also appreciate the ability to scroll through a large, colorful display to select a refrigerant and get the data they need to perform the task. The touch screen allows them to quickly calculate the superheat and subcool average values needed in order to accurately set a control."Honeywell's innovation extends beyond our research labs to make customers' and contractors' jobs easier," Vogl continued. "The prevalence of smart phones and tablets in the HVAC industry prompted us to consider how we could translate some of our most popular job aids into time- and money-saving tools for our customers."Honeywell's Fluorine Products business is a leader in the manufacture and supply of zero ozone-depleting refrigerants used by top air-conditioning and refrigeration makers worldwide, and blowing agents for energy-efficient foam insulation, as well as hydrofluoric acid and precursors for nuclear fuel.Honeywell Specialty Materials is a global leader in providing customers with high-performance specialty materials, including fluorine products; specialty films and additives; advanced fibers and composites; intermediates; specialty chemicals; electronic materials and chemicals; and technologies and materials for petroleum refining.Honeywell International (
