JamesDruryPartners, one of America’s leading board advisory services firms, recently released its 2014 “The Weight of America’s Boards” report, in which Honeywell came in near the top. The report ranks the governance capacity—a measure of the experience and business acumen of board members—of the country’s largest companies by revenue and market capitalization.
In the industry category for “Industrials”, Honeywell ranked third for having a board with the highest governance capacity. Additionally, when compared to the 637 largest American corporations listed in the report, Honeywell’s board ranked 54th when ranked by market capitalization, and 73rd when ranked by revenue.
The report uses an objective methodology to recognize American boards that have been successful in assembling a strong cast of directors, and challenges those that have not. JamesDruryPartners describes the true measure of a board’s governance capacity as “the perceived ability, and courage, of its directors to understand complex business issues and take action.”
