Barbara Brockett, Vice President of Engineering Test Services for Honeywell Aerospace, was recently honored by The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) with the Suzanne Jenniches Upward Mobility Award. This prestigious award recognizes a woman who has succeeded in rising within her organization to a significant management position such that she is able to influence the decision making process and has created a nurturing environment for other women.
Barbara is a passionate sponsor of diversity and inclusion, and fostering women’s professional development. She has championed several strategic initiatives including the Aero Women’s Council (AWC), Women and Honeywell Engineering Network (WHEN), and the corporate engineering diversity organization recruiting program.
“As I advanced in my career, I noticed there were only a handful of female engineers in leadership, and the pipeline did not represent diverse talent. Over the years, SWE has been a foundation and inspiration, enabling my colleagues and me to deploy new programs for hiring, developing, and advancing women and minority engineers,” said Brockett. “Today, I work with many talented and diverse engineers who are collaborating in exciting ways to produce sustainable outcomes for our company.”
Honeywell is committed to creating an environment of diversity and inclusion. In further recognition of the company’s diversity achievements, the Executive Women of New Jersey recently bestowed Honeywell with the Corporate Board Gender Diversity Award. Three of Honeywell’s board members are women; one is Hispanic, one is African American.
