According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration
, production of natural gas in the United States will grow by more than 50 percent from 2015 to 2040. That tremendous growth will require increased infrastructure support—such as pipeline systems—to help transport natural gas around the country. The transportation, storage and wholesale marketing of commodities like natural gas is commonly known as the midstream sector in the petroleum industry.
Accurate measurements are vital. To help meet this need, Honeywell has released a new measurement portfolio designed specifically for this sector. It delivers accurate and reliable data such as volume, energy and other important measurements across a wide range of applications. At the same time, it helps reduce operating costs by up to 70 percent.
The portfolio includes a full range of temperature and pressure transmitters and flow computers, as well as three leading products:
- TwinSonicplus: A two-in-one ultrasonic gas meter designed for custody transfer measurement.
- Encal 3000: A gas chromatograph used to measure natural gas energy.
- GasLab Q2: An online gas quality analyzer focused on natural gas’ calorific value, Wobbe index and methane numbers.
The combination of these products enables Honeywell to provide a comprehensive, all-in-one measurements solution for customers in the midstream natural gas sector.
“The industry faces price volatility, tight margins and wide ranging gas qualities,” said David McNavish, Product Marketing manager for Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS)
. “Low prices, and changing patterns of supply sources and demand, mean customers need control and confidence across the distribution network. Together these products and our Total Care Field Services
allow Honeywell to offer a one-stop shop with the industry’s widest, most versatile and highest performing portfolio for natural gas measurement.”
