Honeywell Chairman and CEO David M. Cote
was honored with the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award
by the American Chemical Society’s Chemical Marketing & Economics Group (CME)
at a luncheon at The Metropolitan Club in New York City on Tuesday. He was presented with the award by CME Leadership Awards Founder and former Chair, George Rodriguez.
Established in 2012, the Leadership Awards are the highest honors given by the American Chemical Society (ACS) New York Section’s Chemical Marketing and Economic Group to outstanding industry and finance leaders whose vision unleash the transforming power of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)
education into amazing products that make people’s lives better every day.
The event featured a reception and seated luncheon, with remarks by CME Chair, Charles Brumlik, ACS CEO, Tom Connelly and former CME Chair, George Rodriguez. Honorees included Access Industries Founder and Chairman, Len Blavatnik, who received the Historic Industrial Investment award, Extraordinary Innovation award recipient, Solvay CEO, Jean-Pierre Clamadieu and Science Involvement Leadership award recipient, Major General Charles Bolden, who delivered the keynote on NASA’s Mars Space Travel program.
Introduced by George Rodriguez, Cote was welcomed to the stage to express his appreciation and share his thoughts on leadership and success. “Hard work and a great attitude are meaningless unless you are working on the right thing. Now if you work really hard on the right thing and do it with a great attitude, now you’ve got something!”
Cote was honored to be surrounded by such a talented group of honorees as well as STEM students and young professionals. “I could not be more pleased to be recognized by such a terrific organization that supports the mission of educating and supporting scientists and engineers throughout their careers.”
Established in 1954, CM&E is a topical group of the American Chemical Society’s New York Section. ACS, founded in Manhattan in 1876 and chartered by the U.S. Congress, is the world's largest scientific society with over 160,000 members and the premier global home for chemists, chemical engineers and related professions.
Since the start CME has taken a leading role at ACS in bringing together professionals in business, investment and technology. The CME ACS Leadership Awards is a warm, festive and insightful event that has become a focal point for meeting eminent industry leaders and for inspiring STEM students. Twice it has received the ChemLuminary Award for Global Engagement, a coveted ACS accolade.
