The New Way to Stay Cool in India

Indoor climate control is an important issue in hot countries like India.

A new line of central air conditioning units—also known as chillers—from India’s Kirloskar Group aims to help customers stay cool while minimizing negative environmental impact.

The chillers will be the first ones manufactured in India with Honeywell’s Solstice® ze refrigerant, an important innovation in keeping with our “Make in India” commitment. The chillers are designed for use in both industrial and commercial buildings, and will also be available in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Europe.

India has committed to phasing out the use of high-global-warming refrigerants, which can be found in a variety of applications including chillers. Solstice ze is an ultra-low alternative refrigerant that does not deplete the ozone layer and is nonflammable. In addition to these environmental benefits, Solstice ze is a near-drop in replacement for high-global-warming refrigerants and provides similar performance to them, so customers do not have to worry about compatibility issues.

“We evaluated the range of options available for our latest generation of chillers, and Honeywell’s Solstice ze is the ideal solution because it helps us meet environmental targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” said Prashant Joshi, vice president for Kirloskar Chillers.

Kirloskar Group is a Pune-based engineering conglomerate that manufactures solutions for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR). The new Solstice ze chillers are designed to be the industry’s most economical and competitive, making it easier for people to stay cool while remaining cost-efficient.
