Honeywell Makes 2017 Most Sustainable HQ List 

Honeywell has been named to Corporate Responsibility (CR) Magazine’s 2017 Most Sustainable Corporate Headquarters list, which honors companies that exhibit an outstanding commitment to sustainability, extending beyond business operations and into the corporate headquarters. The 25 company headquarters featured on the list have been designed and constructed in accordance with rigorous environmental standards and represent the best of the best in green building.

The Morris Plains facility was built to LEED Gold standards and exemplifies a commitment to employees, the environment and the local community. The building incorporates several design and construction practices that consider sustainability, worker satisfaction and productivity, including use of natural light to save energy and create a more pleasing work atmosphere, as well as its proximity to public transportation.

The building features more than 1,000 rooftop solar panels, which generate 387,000 kilowatt hours of electrical capacity a year. The site boasts water-efficient landscaping that reduces water consumption, along with LED lighting that helps keep overall power consumption 35 percent below energy code requirements. The project used more than 25 percent of materials from regional manufacturers, helping support the local economy and reduce emissions.

Other enhancements include a fully-equipped fitness center, health programs and walking trails, landscaped with native plants and trees and acres of meadow grass that does not require watering or mowing. The parking garage covers 86 percent of onsite parking spaces and includes charging stations for electric vehicles.

Other company headquarters featured on the list include, FedEx, General Motors, Canon U.S.A., Lockheed Martin, PNC Financial Services Group, Southwest Airlines and Wells Fargo, among others. The full list is compiled from editorial research and nominations that were vetted by CR Magazine staff and a distinguished panel of corporate responsibility thought leaders.
