Longer days. Beach time. Family vacations. While this is the best time of the year for outdoor activities, all this fun in the sun can have some consequences.
To help prepare for the perspiration, the makers of Honeywell Fans partnered with environmental scientist Dr. Ted Myatt of Environmental Health & Engineering to rank cities in the United States that have the greatest sweat potential.
For the ranking, Ted looked at national records to determine percentage of homes without central air conditioning, the popularity of public transportation and citywide bike sharing programs. He also considered hottest professions along with U.S. Census Bureau data around population density and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association information around a city’s average summer temperatures.
If you’re a cool breeze seeker, you might put your New York City trip on hold until fall. While you might enjoy seeing the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building, the Big Apple scores high on all measures.
Here’s this year’s top ten:
1. New York
2. Washington D.C.
10. New Orleans
If you live in one of these steamy locations, you can always cool off with a Honeywell fan. Learn more here.
