Garrett Performance Parts responds to demand for twin turbo setup option

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 31, 2016 -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced the Nov. 1, 2016, availability of select reverse rotation turbochargers for fabricators and installers seeking an option for symmetrical twin turbo setups and eliminating the need for extra tubing.

The reverse rotation design allows for more aesthetically pleasing visual symmetry best suited for v-block shaped engines. The new design is engineered for the compressor wheel to rotate counterclockwise thereby pointing the housing outlet in the opposite direction from a standard rotation turbocharger.

“It creates the visual symmetry of a ‘left shoe, right shoe’ appearance that really works well with v-shaped engines for our enthusiast customers,” said, Eric Fraysse Aftermarket vice president and general manager at Honeywell Transportation Systems. “While there are workarounds within the industry to address this preferred setup, these Garrett turbos have been designed and engineered to work seamlessly without compromising performance.”

 The reverse rotation turbos are available for select GTX Turbochargers (GTX3071R, 3076R, 3576R, 3582R) and in addition to being brand new, these turbos eliminate the need for additional fabricated piping by feeding directly into the intake manifold. The result also creates a more efficient mirrored setup with equidistant exhaust flow between the two turbochargers.

The reverse rotation turbos feature the new Garrett GTX Series Gen II compressor wheels, as well as other GTX Gen II standard features including water-cooled center housing rotating assemblies, ceramic ball bearings for additional responsiveness, new high-flow compressor housings, a fully machined speed sensor port for enthusiasts that are interested in data acquisition (Garrett speed sensor sold separately). Several unique turbine housing options are also available for each size to fine tune power for bottom end or top end performance. 

Honeywell provides reverse rotation turbochargers for some single-unit, factory installed original equipment applications including that used with the current Ford 2.3L EcoBoost engine available in the Ford Mustang.
