India's Path to Energy Transition
Energy transition solutions are ready now to help you achieve your sustainability goals
India is at the forefront of the global energy transition, balancing economic growth with the priority to reduce carbon emissions. The country has set ambitious targets for expanding renewable energy and decreasing emissions intensity by 2030, with a goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
In this context, Honeywell and CNBC collaborated to organize the India Energy Transition Summit held on September 5, 2024, in New Delhi, India. This summit brought together industry leaders, policymaker and visionaries from various sectors to engage in meaningful discussions aimed at advancing a sustainable and energy-efficient future for India. The dialogue underscored the vital role that industries and organizations play in driving this energy transition.

Key Offerings
Flow Battery Energy Storage
This year, Honeywell introduced its Flow Battery Energy Storage Solution. An iron flow battery is an advanced energy storage system that uses iron-based chemistry to store and release electrical energy. This type of battery belongs to the family of redox flow batteries, which are characterized by their ability to store energy in liquid electrolytes contained in external tanks. Iron flow batteries are particularly notable for their cost-effectiveness, safety, and sustainability, making them an attractive option for large-scale energy storage applications, such as renewable energy integration, grid stabilization, and backup power. In 2023, Honeywell announced a strategic collaboration with ESS Tech, Inc. to advance technology development and market adoption of iron flow battery (IFB) energy storage systems. Honeywell has made an investment in ESS as part of this collaboration. The relationship builds upon each company’s development of energy storage systems, and brings together ESS’ market-leading, patented IFB design with Honeywell’s advanced materials and energy systems expertise.
Hydrogen
Honeywell provides innovative technologies and services for hydrogen production, storage and utilization, that support industries like refining, petrochemicals, transportation and power generation in adopting hydrogen as a clean energy source. Honeywell's advanced technologies include steam methane reforming (SMR), autothermal reforming (ATR) and gasification, enabling efficient conversion of natural gas, biomass and other feedstocks into high-purity hydrogen. We also offer blue hydrogen solutions, integrating carbon capture and storage (CCS) with hydrogen production to reduce CO₂ emissions. Honeywell's expertise extends to hydrogen purification, compression and storage, ensuring safe and efficient handling across the value chain. We support hydrogen infrastructure development, including fueling stations and pipelines, to facilitate widespread adoption. Honeywell's process engineering and gas processing experience ensure scalable, reliable and tailored hydrogen solutions, advancing the hydrogen economy and helping industries achieve decarbonization goals.
Carbon Capture Solutions
Honeywell offers advanced technologies to reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions across industries. These include products and systems that capture and store CO₂ emissions from industrial processes, power generation and other sources. Honeywell's offerings include pre- and post-combustion carbon capture, which can be integrated into existing facilities or new installations. We also provide end-to-end services that encompass project development, engineering and support, ensuring optimized performance and compliance with regulatory standards. Our technologies are based on decades of experience in gas processing and chemical engineering, leveraging innovations in solvents, membranes and adsorption processes. These solutions are designed to be energy-efficient, cost-effective and scalable, making them suitable for a wide range of applications, from small-scale operations to large industrial plants. With a focus on sustainability and the global drive toward net-zero emissions, Honeywell plays a crucial role in helping industries transition to a low-carbon future.
Renewable Fuels
Honeywell offers cutting-edge technologies and expertise to produce sustainable fuels from renewable resources, reducing carbon emissions and supporting cleaner energy. Our processes convert waste, biomass and other feedstocks into biofuels like renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable naphtha. Our proprietary UOP Ecofining™ technology converts used cooking oil, animal fats and vegetable oils into high-quality renewable fuels that can replace or blend with traditional fuels. This technology is flexible, processing various feedstocks with high efficiency and yield. Honeywell also provides services like process design, engineering and lifecycle support to ensure optimal performance and sustainability. By producing drop-in renewable fuels compatible with existing infrastructure, Honeywell helps industries like transportation and aviation reduce their carbon footprint without compromising performance.
Green Hydrogen
Honeywell offers advanced technologies and services for producing and utilizing green hydrogen, a clean energy carrier made via water electrolysis using renewable sources like solar, wind and hydropower. Green hydrogen is crucial for decarbonizing industries, transportation and power generation, aiding the global shift to a zero-carbon future.
LOHC
Carrying the Future of Energy: Honeywell Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier
Honeywell’s Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC) squares the circle to move to a hydrogen-powered future. Overcoming the challenges of hydrogen transportation, LOHC enables a more efficient, effective, and safer way to ship and store hydrogen using existing infrastructure. With more cost-effective long-distance transport, we can match international supply and demand for hydrogen and enable it to play a critical role in the energy mix as we move to carbon-neutral economies.
