NOTIFIER's FAAST Aspirating Smoke Detection Goes BIG

NORTHFORD, Conn. NOTIFIER by Honeywell ( NYSE: HON) today introduces the FAASTXT 9400X conventional aspirating smoke detector, designed to provide veryearly warning of smoke for large spaces up to 28,800 square feet. As part ofthe System SensorFire Alarm Aspiration Sensing Technology(FAAST)line, the FAAST XT 9400X continues to offer the same high level of false alarmimmunity and precision sensing to protect challenging fire detection applicationsand critical facilities. The FAASTXT 9400X can support a network of up to four pipes to protect as much as 28,800square feet per detector, making it ideal for large open spaces, such aswarehouses, atriums and cold storage units. Its pipes can run a total length of nearly 1,100 feet, with a maximum of400 feet per single pipe. Long pipe runs enable the FAAST XT9400X to be placed in a much more easily-accessed area for maintenance andtesting, as opposed to common spot detectors. Elevator shafts and high ceilingsare just a few examples of areas where this new detector's long reach can cutdown on service time.AllFAAST detectors continually sample air through their pipes, using two elements (blueLED and infrared laser) to analyze air and quickly decipher incipient fireconditions as early as 30 to 60 minutes before a fire actually starts. FAASTemploys a series of advanced algorithms, coupled with a choice of threesensitivity modes to practically eliminate nuisance alarms. In addition, athree-stage filtration system makes FAAST a great option for detecting fires inharsh environments with high air flow or a lot of dirt and other nuisanceparticulate matter."Yes,this aspirating detection is good for critical and high-risk facilities, butthe 9400X can also be a real problem solver for a variety of places," said DickBauer, business leader, NOTIFIER. "Now NOTIFIER users have another option thatcould help ensure no disruptions to their business and possibly save them sometime and money too."Additionalfeatures of the FAAST XT 9400X include an internal Web server for remotemonitoring and immediate email notification of events. An internal three-speedfan can be configured for more or less area coverage, or to reduce powerconsumption of each unit. The new detector can also integrate with buildingmanagement systems via Modbus TCP/IP communication.Morecomprehensive information on the FAAST line and the new FAAST XT 9400Xconventional aspirating smoke detector is available on To inquire aboutFAAST for a particular facility, contact a local NOTIFIER sales managerEDITOR'S NOTE: High-and low-resolution images of NOTIFIER's FAAST XT 9400X detector and other firealarm products are available in the online photolibrary
