HONEYWELL AND EUROSAFE DEMONSTRATE IMPORTANCE OF HEARING CONSERVATION AT RAILTEX 2015
ROISSY, France, April 29, 2015 -
) is joining forces with its UK distributor Eurosafe to show some of the latest personal protective equipment (PPE) solutions for the rail industry at Railtex 2015 (Birmingham, 12 - 14 May, stand W52). With hearing conservation being one of the key themes at this year's show, experts from Honeywell Safety Products will demonstrate how the Howard Leight VeriPRO® earplug fit testing system can help both safety managers and workers ensure optimal protection against noise. With major expansion and improvement works underway across the UK, the rail industry is facing new safety challenges, with the number of injuries involving infrastructure workers increasing by 22% over the past year1. Thus, it comes as no surprise that ensuring that workers wear the right PPE is top of the agenda for the rail industry, with hearing conservation being one of the main concerns2."Railtex is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate how selecting the right PPE and - more importantly - wearing it correctly can really make the difference when it comes to protecting workers against risks such as hearing loss," comments Stuart Boyd, Chairman at Eurosafe. "Thanks to our consolidated partnership with Honeywell Safety Products we are ideally placed to offer the rail industry the best health and safety solutions." With rail workers being particularly exposed to the risk of Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL),3 ensuring that hearing protection devices such as earplugs or earmuffs are fitted and worn correctly is vital. The VeriPRO® earplug fit testing system enables users to determine the Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR) of a worker fitted with any earplugs through a simple listening test. This allows both safety managers and workers to ascertain if the worker receives optimal protection from noise with their earplugs, requires additional training, or needs to try a different model.
