HONEYWELL ANNOUNCES OPENING OF NEW ACETONE TERMINALIN U.S. MIDWESTNew location offers improved availability of product to manufacturersMORRIS PLAINS, N.J., Oct. 22, 2015 -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today thatit has opened a new acetone terminal in the U.S. Midwest to better service customers in thatregion of the country.The new terminal, located in the Chicago area and operated by Canal Terminals, offersmanufacturers in the U.S. Midwest a faster and more reliable supply of acetone for theiroperations. Truck deliveries from the new terminal are available immediately."Acetone users in the U.S. Midwest need a reliable supply of product that they canaccess quickly, and this new terminal meets that need," said Paul Sanders, global businessdirector for Honeywell's Resins and Chemicals business. "While there have been disruptions tosupply from other producers in the region, Honeywell continuously produces acetone as part ofits integrated nylon manufacturing operations, which helps provide the supply security acetoneusers require."Honeywell's Frankford, Pa., plant is one of the largest producers of acetone, acommonly-used solvent in applications ranging from automotive and electronics manufacturingto paints and coatings. It is a co-product of the company's phenol production process, which is acritical component in the manufacture of its Aegis® nylon 6 resins.Through its nylon manufacturing operations, Honeywell Resins and Chemicals producesmany other chemical intermediates, including Nadone® cyclohexanone, Naxol® cyclohexanoland caprolactam. The business also manufactures Sulf-N® ammonium sulfate fertilizer, a coproductof caprolactam production.
