    Meet a #futureshaper: Aru Narla

She is helping flights run on time

Aru Narla develops systems data for software that helps diagnose problems on aircrafts.

She is a senior advanced system engineer and has been with Honeywell for three decades.

The sky is the limit for the future of aerospace, she said.

“I anticipate more automated flight operations and control systems, faster and easier travel, more sustainable processes and fuel alternatives, smarter sensors, application of machine learning, and incorporation of virtual and augmented reality in designs and processes.”

Based in Deer Valley, Arizona; here is her #futureshaper story.

    What brought you to Honeywell?
My first job out of school was with Garrett, now Honeywell. After graduating with my master’s degree in electrical engineering, it was important I found a job where I could use my control systems background. I was so impressed by the caliber of my interviewers that I knew right then and there that I wanted to work and learn with such talent at Honeywell.

What gets you excited about going to work every day?
I like interfacing with customers to understand their needs, coordinating data exchanges, clarifying technical issues and identifying growth opportunities.

Did you ever imagine you would end up in the job you are now?
The job I am doing now is different than what I was doing early on in my career.  When I first started I was utilizing my technical skills and am happy to have had the opportunity to do so.  Now, I still use my technical skills, but indirectly through applying my systems background.

In your eyes, what qualities does a #futureshaper possess?
Team building, forward thinking, openness to change and opportunity, respect for work life balance, responsiveness, integrity, global cultural awareness and an attitude of unity in diversity.

What advice would you give someone who wants to follow in your footsteps?
Blaze your own trail!  Use my footsteps as markers on your own journey. Act like you are an owner in the company … you are!  Don’t be afraid to speak up, respectfully of course. Value your mentors and team members. Ask questions. Keep learning!

When you are not working, what do you do for fun?
I like to read personal growth books and stay connected with my family and friends. I teach a spiritual education/human values class for children and enjoy this very much as children have a spirit we are all trying to retain ourselves.
