    Meet a #futureshaper: Alin Oachiş

He’s helping transform the way the world works.

Alin Oachis procures necessary strategic materials and services for Honeywell.

That includes a range of items from pen and paper to very complex services like capital purchases,  IT solutions and more.

Alin believes anyone can be a #futureshaper by thinking big, being bold and rethinking the way things are done.

Based in Bucharest, Romania; here is his #futureshaper story.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a child, I wanted to be a football player. It did not take long to realize that, while I could become a football player, becoming a professional athlete was a totally different story.

    What brought you to Honeywell?

I started my career in procurement at another company and after four years, I moved to finance.  After my move to finance, I realized I missed procurement. I was given the opportunity to join Honeywell’s EMEA indirect regional team in 2014.

What gets you excited about going to work every day?

We are such a complex company, with constant moving parts and the level of diversity around my line of work means there are always new things for me to learn every day.

Did you ever imagine you would end up in the job you are in now?

I did not have any preset expectations when I started my career. The different roles I have had until now have taken me on different paths. I decided at a certain point in my career to stop worrying so much about the future and focus to on what I can control right now.

If you were a fortune reader, what would you predict as the future of your industry?

Digitization will play a big role in our industry and having the right talent to embrace that will be key. Decision makers within large companies like Honeywell will expect an agile and frictionless buying process like they experience in their private lives and technology will be the facilitator of that.

What advice would you give someone who wants to follow in your footsteps?

Have a continuous learning mindset. It could be from your experiences on the job, your personal life, from books or courses, or even just learning from more experienced individuals. It is important to never stop learning. Be bold and take calculated risks.

When you are not working, what do you do for fun?

I do not have a lot of free time between family and work, but I do my best to put time aside for sports and reading. We also try to travel every year (with and without the kids.)
