    Meet a #futureshaper: Suraj Subramoniam

He's making pharmaceutical logistics more efficient

Suraj Subramoniam always had an interest in science and technology.

In his role with Honeywell, he tackles various issues that could impact the business – be it selecting the right components for developing a product, or debating on the supply chain strategy, to identifying distributors to expand our reach.

Based in Mumbai, India; here is his #futureshaper story.

    What brought you to Honeywell?

The opportunity to be a part of product marketing and innovate with technology teams to build new products and solutions for the company.

Did you ever imagine you would end up in the job you are now?

When I decided to pursue my MBA, my objective was to get into a commercial role in the short or medium term post-graduation. While I did not imagine it to be Honeywell, I could definitely see myself working for a Fortune 100 global multi-national company.

    What do you do?

I am part of the Safety and Productivity Solutions India marketing team, and am responsible to manage New Product Introductions that have an Internet of Things play. I shepherd the ideation process that are market-backed or tech-forward to bring new ideas and product innovations to the table that could transform the way we do business as well as transform our customer’s operations.

If you were a fortune reader, what would you predict as the future of your industry?

The industry is transforming at a very fast pace, things are very different from how they were a few years ago. I’d imagine a mass digitization drive that would happen, impacting people, processes and technology, to drive efficiency, become more competitive and become more customer-centric.

In your eyes, what qualities does a #futureshaper possess?

I think a #futureshaper needs to be a go-getter and always exhibit the behaviors outlined by Honeywell – whether it is acting with a sense of urgency, remaining committed or going beyond what is expected of them.

What advice would you give someone who wants to follow in your footsteps?

Always challenge the status quo. Be willing to learn new things every day, and try to get hands on experience in executing projects you believe will create a big impact. Stay humble, no matter how successful you are!

When you are not working, what do you do for fun?

I am part of the running squad and go for long runs on Sunday with my running group. I also love traveling and exploring the world and experiencing new cultures, and I always explore a new country/city every year.
