The Honeywell Transnorm SmartSort® Swivel Wheel Sorter is a high-performance warehousing solution designed for efficient sorting, outfeeding and distribution of unit loads. The innovative TS4810 Sorter Cartridge, a compact component of the sortation system, allows for high-speed and accurate sorting of packages, cartons and poly bags.
Cartridges within a sortation system allow packages to be moved in different directions; they can be flexibly configured to change the flow of products based on the needs of the facility. The TS4810 is engineered to deliver distribution capacities of more than 8,000 units per hour.
Designed for Flexibility and Resource Efficiency
The cartridge’s design reflects the most pressing needs of today’s distribution and fulfillment operations. These businesses need solutions that can fit into small spaces and easily adjust with ever-changing demand.
“We designed the TS4810 Cartridge to convey simplicity, compactness and robustness to the user at first glance,” said Rene Schaellig, R&D Manager at Honeywell Transnorm. “The outer shell has few openings and no protruding edges, and the single plug-in electrical connection makes the product easy to install, operate and maintain. The modular design also allows for flexible adaptation.”
Distribution facilities also want material handling equipment that does not require frequent intervention and servicing and uses resources efficiently. For example, the standardization of the electrical connection in the TS4810 Cartridge enables easy mechanical integration and simplified control and calibration of the swivel rows. Easier maintenance translates into reduced downtime of the sortation system when replacing or maintaining the swivel bars.
“Another important design choice was significantly reducing frictional resistance in the moving parts of the TS4810 Cartridge so they experience less wear,” Schaellig added. “This extends the service life of the product, reduces energy consumption by up to 70% and minimizes material usage.”
