    Virtual Volunteering By the Numbers

30 days, more than 1,000 volunteers – here’s how our employees are supporting their communities during the pandemic

In September, more than 1,000 employees contributed to the first-ever Honeywell Month of Virtual Volunteering, supporting their communities by donating their time either virtually or at a safe distance.

    Here's a breakdown:

    • 10,855 pages – Transcribed from Freedmen’s Bureau records held by the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., which 165 employees helped complete
    • 1,011 employees for more than 20 organizations – Volunteered in September
    • 500 science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning kits – Assembled by co-workers in Charlotte to help a local nonprofit partner bring STEM education to underserved students
    • 307 India employees – Planted trees across India as part of the One Person, One Tree initiative
    • 27 China employees – Recorded audio of bilingual children’s books for students at schools rebuilt by the Honeywell Humanitarian Relief Foundation after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake

“The pandemic presented its share of challenges in 2020, but it’s also created a unique opportunity for Honeywell employees to support their communities at a difficult time,” said Greg Efthimiou, Senior Director of Internal Communications and Community Relations. “The concept of a ‘Month of Virtual Volunteering’ had never been attempted before, but employees truly rose to the occasion and devoted their time selflessly in service of others.”
