If you’ve ever flown on a business jet or commercial aircraft, chances are some of its most complex components were born in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Since opening in 2006 with basic machining of low-carbon steels, the site has evolved into Honeywell’s largest center of excellence for high-precision machining. Today, it houses over 1,300 machines across five buildings, making it the largest mechanical site in our network. It features 39 certified special processes—chemical, physical, and testing—that enable full vertical integration.

What makes this site truly cool? Its ability to transform raw materials into finished aerospace components entirely in-house. From impellers, rotors and nozzles to advanced parts for turbofans, turboprops and auxiliary power units, the Chihuahua team delivers precision at scale.

But it’s not just about the tech—it’s about the people. The team here works with discipline, passion, and deep respect for the craft.

“They’re constantly pushing boundaries, automating manual processes with robotics and upgrading machining tools to boost productivity and reduce lead times,” said Mario Enriquez. “This environment inspires individuals to work with discipline, passion, and respect for their roles and the products they make, always striving for excellence.”

With cutting-edge material testing and next-gen component development underway, Chihuahua is helping shape the future of aviation—one precision part at a time.

This story is part of our We Make Cool Things series, where we’re meeting the people who run Honeywell’s manufacturing sites that produce our solutions in automation, energy transition and aviation around the world.
