Resorts World Sentosa launches AI-powered sustainability initiatives in partnership with Honeywell Technologies
Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) will become the first tourism destination in Singapore to adopt predictive optimisation technologies for district cooling, helping it anticipate cooling demand, reduce energy use and maintain guest comfort across the resort.
SINGAPORE, 03 November 2026 – Honeywell Technologies (NASDAQ: HON) and Resorts World Sentosa (RWS, 圣淘沙名胜世界) today announced a strategic co-innovation initiative that will make RWS the first tourism destination in Singapore to adopt predictive optimisation technologies for district cooling. The technology is significant because cooling is one of the largest, most costly and complex energy needs for major resorts; and anticipating demand and coordinating equipment before conditions change can reduce wasted energy while keeping hotels, attractions and public spaces consistently comfortable.
The initiative builds on Honeywell Technologies and RWS’ 2023 connected-building deployment, which put RWS ahead of the tourism sector in adopting cloud technology for large-scale building management. The new projects will add artificial intelligence and predictive capabilities to help improve operations and support RWS’ carbon-neutrality ambition for 2030.
Honeywell Technologies and RWS will draw on the Honeywell Technologies Singapore Sustainable Buildings Centre of Excellence, established with support from the Singapore Economic Development Board, to develop and test the technologies in one of Asia’s most complex hospitality and entertainment environments.
The initiative includes three practical programmes:
· Smarter air-conditioning: AI will continuously adjust heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems (HVAC) to use less energy while keeping indoor spaces comfortable. This solution is already deployed in Resorts World Convention Centre and Illumination’s Minion Land at Universal Studios Singapore.
· Cooling that anticipates demand: The district cooling plant will forecast how much cooling the resort will need and decide which equipment should run, and when. This will help RWS avoid producing more chilled water than needed and operate the whole plant more efficiently.
· A clearer view of energy use: Honeywell Technologies’ proprietary intelligence platform Forge will bring energy data together and turn them into insights that highlight where energy may be wasted and give facilities teams practical recommendations they can act on across the resort.
"The next frontier in building efficiency is not simply automating individual systems such as HVAC, chillers and district energy infrastructure. It is enabling interconnected systems to work intelligently together, continuously and proactively optimising energy use as conditions change” said Mr Munish Suri, President, Building Automation, India and APAC, Honeywell Technologies.
He continued, “Resorts World Sentosa is demonstrating how sustainability and operational excellence can reinforce, rather than compete with, the guest experience. By combining RWS’ deep operational expertise with Honeywell Technologies’ capabilities in AI, energy optimisation and intelligent buildings, our three co-innovation concepts are putting this vision into practice. This represents an important step in RWS’ journey from automation to autonomy.”
The initiative marks the next phase of the Honeywell Technologies and Resorts World Sentosa’s innovation journey. The 2023 deployment created a connected, cloud-based foundation for building operations. The new programmes will add advanced analytics, artificial intelligence and future autonomous-building capabilities to address more complex sustainability and operational challenges, while supporting RWS’ goal of carbon neutrality by 2030.
Mr Kess Chiang, Senior Vice President, Resort Services, Resorts World Sentosa, said, “Facilities management goes beyond fixing things when they break. It means staying ahead – using technology to make the resort more comfortable, reliable and efficient for every guest.”
He further shared, “A simple example is room and venue temperature. It should adjust itself to humidity, airflow and changing weather conditions, rather than rely on a fixed setting. The goal is that our guests should never feel too hot or too cold, while using only the energy that is needed. That is how facilities management can lead from the front in improving guest comfort and supporting responsible growth.”
Today’s announcement follows a long history of Honeywell Technologies working with some of the world’s most iconic buildings and brands to co-develop new ideas and deployments to improve efficiency and automation. The company has a long-standing partnership with the Sydney Opera House and helped it become one of the first World Heritage-listed buildings to achieve a 6-Star Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
