India Foundation Wins Best Community Project Award
Safe Water Network-India brings clean drinking water to rural areas to improve the health of thousands of people
July 27, 2018
High levels of ground contamination cause debilitating fluorosis that leads to stunting and teeth mottling in children, skeletal fluorosis and loss of productivity among the youth, and bending of spine, joint pains, and difficulty in mobility among the elderly in rural India.
Honeywell Hometown SolutionsIndia Foundation, in partnership with Safe Water Network, addresses this critical need with the Safe Water Network-India initiative, and has so far built 130 locally owned and operated safe water stations in Telangana, providing 420,000 people with access to affordable and reliable safe drinking water.
The initiative was named “2018 Best Community Project in Water Sector” at the Water Management Excellence Awards, organized by the Associated Chambers of Commerce of India (ASSOCHAM). The association represents the interests of trade and commerce in India, and acts as an interface between issues and initiatives to make a positive impact on the environment, and the economic and social aspects of the community at large.
