Honeywell Unveils New Turbocharger Performance Series at SEMA

The Garrett G Series is designed for competition with exceptionalperformance and installation flexibility

LAS VEGAS &endash; Oct. 31, 2017 &endash; Honeywell (NYSE:HON), the leading global developer of automotiveturbochargers, announced today at the 2017 Specialty Equipment MarketAssociation (SEMA) show that it is introducing Honeywell Garrett® G Seriesof aftermarket performance turbochargers capable ofsupporting up to 660 horsepower.

The GarrettG Series contains the latest innovations in turbocharger technology design, materials and aerodynamics to meet the aftermarket needs of hard corecompetitors. It is the most powerful small-frame turbocharger on the markettoday, offering added performance in a smaller package with additionalinstallation flexibility.

To achievethis, Honeywell designers and engineers took a “clean sheet of paper” approach tofocus on the needs of the performance enthusiast from the turbo's inception. Thiseliminated the need to work around inherited design characteristics supportingan existing Honeywell factory-installed turbocharger, and allowed for tailored performancefeatures for competition needs and adding installation flexibility for a broadrange of engine sizes. Garrett G Series features include multiple housingorientations as well as four water port options among its many enhancements to helpwith packaging in smaller engine bays and to make engine connections easier.

“The newGarrett G Series reflects the best-in-class engineering and manufacturingstandards we have developed during our considerable 60-year history, and ourfirst-ever purpose-built competition turbos targeting the performance marketfrom their design inception. The Garrett brand has a legacy of enabling racing championships, and we're committed to advancing the science of turbocharging for enthusiasts tohelp them cross the finish line first,” said Eric Fraysse, vice president andgeneral manager of Honeywell Transportation Systems Aftermarket.

Officiallyknown as the Garrett G25-550 and theG25-660, these turbos will outflowall comparable products on the market while providing a 1.4-inch to 1.8-inchdecrease in axial length. They will support 1.4 L through 3.0 L enginedisplacements, and are sold in standard rotation and reverse rotationconfigurations. There are also a variety of wastegated and non-wastegatedturbine housing options.

At theheart of the Garrett G Series lineup is a forged and fully-machined compressorwheel. The new wheel and aerodynamics improve horsepower ratings, boostresponse, and efficiency when combined with the larger compressor housing. Anew Mar-M alloy turbine wheel has also improved aerodynamics and increasedtemperature resistance up to 1050° C and
    1922° F.

With thebroadest portfolio of turbocharging solutions in the world, Honeywell remainscommitted to product safety and durability when developing new products. Thenew Garrett G Series turbos have passed rigorous containment and durabilitytests. A one-piece back plate and center housing increases structural strength, and twin piston rings at both ends of the shaft reduce the likeliness of oilleakage to the seals at either end of the turbo.

HoneywellPerformance Turbochargers are for off-road use only unless specificregulatory approval (Executive Order) has been obtained / verified by the enduser.
