Empty condensation water weekly and avoid leaving water in the tank for long periods. Honeywell recommends using a small amount of vinegar in a full tank, leaving it overnight, discarding it, then gently cleaning and rinsing the tank. Dry the tank completely before seasonal storage.
No permanent installation is required. Place the unit in an enclosed area and close windows and doors while it operates so outside moisture does not continually enter.
A compressor model cools a coil so moisture condenses out of warm humid air. A desiccant model uses a moisture-absorbing material, such as silica gel, to adsorb humidity and typically produces warmer, drier exhaust air.
Clean the filter according to the manual, reinstall it, and press the filter button on the display to clear the indicator.

The auto-drain pump and cap are intended only for models that already have a built-in pump, including TP50PWKNN, TP70PWKN and TP70PWK.
Differences include tank capacity, drain-hose configuration and noise level. TP models vary from about 3.3 L to 6.6 L tanks, while the listed DH models have about 6.8 L tanks. Built-in pump availability also differs by model.
Honeywell lists TP70PWKN and DH70PWKN as models with built-in water pumps.
Clean the filter about every two weeks, allow a washed filter to dry before reinstalling it, empty the tank at the end of the season, disconnect and cap drainage connections, and store the unit in a cool place away from direct sunlight.

Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. Relative humidity is expressed as a percentage; Honeywell identifies roughly 30–50% as an ideal range for most homes.
DOE testing changes reduced the published ratings for several TP Series units: TP30 changed from 30 to 23 pints, TP50 from 50 to 32 pints, and TP70 from 70 to 50 pints, while room-size recommendations remained the same.
Current Honeywell portable dehumidifiers use R32 refrigerant following the U.S. regulatory changes affecting R410 refrigerant.
The compressor may stop while the fan continues for several minutes to cool the compressor. A 5–8% difference between the built-in humidistat and a separate hygrometer can be normal. Also check that Continuous (CO) mode is not enabled. The dehumidifier does not start.

The dehumidifier runs constantly.
- The room may be larger than the unit’s capacity.
- An open door or window may continually introduce moisture.
The dehumidifier is making noise.
- Fan and compressor sounds are normal during operation. Grinding noises after unpacking can indicate shipping damage; Honeywell recommends contacting the retailer for return or exchange.
The unit is blowing cold air from the top vent.
- The top vent distributes air into the room. Outlet temperature can vary with room conditions and does not necessarily indicate a fault.
Continuous drain is connected but water is not draining.
- The tank may need to be more than about half full before drainage activates.
- Check that the unit is level; Honeywell suggests slightly raising the front if needed.
- Check the drain-tube/cap connection.
- Make sure the tube is not kinked or blocked.
- Keep the discharge end out of standing water to prevent backflow.
Frost appears on the coils / the coils are frozen.
- Remove a garden hose connection if present, reinstall the original drain cap and allow the ice to melt.
- Ensure adequate airflow and at least about 17 inches of clearance.
- Check that the drain outlet is clear.
- Clean clogged filters.
- Verify the room is not below freezing.
The water tank is not in the correct position.
- The unit will not operate until the tank is securely seated. Reposition it correctly.
Water Tank Full is illuminated and the unit is beeping.
- Reseat the tank correctly.
- Clean the bucket sensor area.
- Check that the float switch moves freely and is not obstructed or damaged.
Error code E3.
- Keep ambient temperature below 89°F (32°C).
- If the unit has been moved, switch it off and unplug it for at least 24 hours while keeping it upright.
- Reconnect and test again after the stabilization period.
Error code E1/E2 (temperature sensor).

- Power the unit off and unplug it for 24 hours, then restart and allow it to run for 1–2 hours.

- This is listed for certain built-in-pump models. Reseat the water tank securely.

- Check the pump drain-cap washers.
- If the room is hot, reset the unit for 24 hours below 89°F (32°C).

- Use the correct auto-drain pump tube and cap.

- For TP70AWKN pairing codes, press the timer button six times to clear the codes.
DH Series SA error code.
- The SA code indicates a rest period: the unit shuts off for about one hour after 24 hours of operation and should restart afterward.
TP70PWKN pump shows E5.
- Verify the direct-drain cap is removed, the original auto-pump cap and tube are installed correctly, the tube is unobstructed, the pump cap is secure, and the pump filter screen and washer are present.
When the tank reaches capacity, the unit shuts off until it is emptied. A hose can also be used for drainage; keep it free of kinks and direct it to a reliable drain or sink.
Remove the drain cap, attach the continuous-drain tube to the direct drain outlet, and position the other end securely over a drain or sink with a continuous downward slope.
Attach the pump tube to the direct drain outlet. Once the tank reaches the activation level, the pump automatically moves condensation vertically or horizontally up to about 16 feet.

- Remove the water tank to access the pump.
- Clean the filter screen near the pump rod with a soft brush.
- Submerge the pump in white vinegar using a suitable plastic bag and secure it.
- Reassemble and test the pump after cleaning.
Honeywell recommends the supplied drain tube. If extension is necessary for gravity drainage, use a standard garden hose, keep it no longer than about 5 feet, avoid flat sections where water can collect, and ensure the drain outlet remains higher than the receiving drain.
