Driving Entrepreneurial Digital Transformation in China
January 11, 2017
Honeywell recently won the “2016 China Management Excellence Top 10” Award from Chief Executive China Magazine. The recognition is for efforts to drive a “Becoming THE Chinese Competitor” strategy and transform into a leading “cyber-industrial company” in China. Stephen Shang, President and CEO of Honeywell China, has also been honored as “2016 Outstanding Business Leader” for driving internet and digital transformation.
This is the 14th consecutive year that Chief Executive China Magazine has recognized best practices in management and business operations and Honeywell is the only multinational company that has been included this year. “Connectivity is the next big trend. It is already shaping and re-shaping many sectors, from consumer products to manufacturing,” said Shang, in an interview with the magazine. “Digitization is the next step in terms of our evolution and software also serves as a core competence.”He added: “In some vertical markets such as buildings, warehouses, airports, hotels and plants, there are plenty of new and strategic opportunities in China, especially for software-industrial companies like Honeywell.”Today, China has become the second largest country in sales, following the United States and is the single largest contributor to Honeywell's growth. Several years ago, the company launched the initiative of Becoming THE Chinese Competitor (BCC) to drive localization and transformation with speed and rigor. By benchmarking the leading Chinese companies, Honeywell aims to become the best operating global company in China with the best product, best quality, best value and fastest speed.“Under current conditions when the market is experiencing a slowdown, BCC demands an even bigger commitment,” said Stephen Shang. “We shall spare no effort in exploring the pain points in the market and meeting or even exceeding demands and expectations of our local customers.”
