The 8670 Wireless Ring Scanner, which rests comfortably on a worker’s finger to make bar code scanning easier was selected as one of 11 award winners based on readers’ votes. Editors and advisors chose the finalists from the more than 2,000 new product innovations featured in the leading industry publication.
With wearable technology, connected supply chain workers can be more productive and work safely throughout the supply chain

The rugged, high-performance ring scanner uses Bluetooth® technology to connect to a range of host computing devices such as laptops, PCs, rugged mobile computers, vehicle-mounted computers and consumer smartphones. It allows workers in distribution centers, logistics, delivery and retail environments to keep both hands free while scanning labels on packages and equipment.
Small and lightweight, the wearable provides multi-sensory feedback using a beeper, LED lights and vibration and its powerful scanner can read damaged or poor quality bar codes often found on packages.
The award was presented at the 2017 IndustryWeek Manufacturing & Technology Conference & Expo in Cleveland.
In March, four safety products from Honeywell Safety and Productivity Solutions won 2017 iF Design Awards for outstanding innovation and user-centered design. The worker safety products, which include a portable gas detector and an electronic dusk mask, were chosen based on their usability, functionality, innovation and aesthetics.
