Board Member Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
June 14, 2017
The Award is given to a “current or former Chief Financial Officer of a public or private company whose contribution has significantly and uniquely impacted the greater Bay Area business community over the course of his or her career.”
With more than 500 attendees, the event raised more than $500,000 to benefit Larkin Street Youth Services, which is working to prevent and end youth homelessness.
“I am truly honored to receive this recognition and share it with my sponsors, colleagues and family, who have all supported me throughout my career,” said Washington. “The phenomenal leaders I've worked alongside and the innovative environments I've been a part of, across different industries, have inspired me in so many ways. Knowing this event greatly benefits the work of Larkin Street Youth Services and the critical resources they provide to at-risk and homeless youth makes this honor even more special.”
It's not Washington's only recent honor. Earlier this year, she attended the 2017 Culture Shifting Weekend, a three-day convention that gathers accomplished African and African American executives, entrepreneurs, tech trailblazers, business influencers and thought leaders in Silicon Valley. There, she was honored with a Culture Shift Award, which recognizes “leaders and pioneers of diversity who have achieved success within their respective industries or those who have progressed the diversity agenda in America.”
Washington joined Gilead, a global biopharmaceutical company, in 2008 and is currently Executive Vice President and CFO, where she oversees the finance and information technology organizations. Previously, she was CFO of Hyperion Solutions, which was acquired by Oracle Corporation in March 2007. Washington is a member of the Board of Directors of Honeywell International, Salesforce.com, UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland, and the Board of Visitors Graziadio School of Business and Management, Pepperdine University.
