The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International HillClimb (PPIHC), also known as The Race to the Clouds, is an annual invitationalautomobile and motorcycle hill climb to the summit of Pikes Peak &endash; America'sMountain in Colorado, USA.
Founded in 1916 by Spencer Penrose, TheBroadmoor PPIHC takes place on a 12.42-mile public toll-road boasting 156turns, while competitors climb 4,720 ft. from the Start Line at Mile 7 markeron the Pikes Peak Highway to the 14,115 ft. finish at the mountain'ssummit.As the drivers climb toward the summit, the thin air robsinternal combustion engines of up to 30% of the power they are capable of atthe start of the race, giving turbocharged vehicles a distinct advantage.
